Smartphone and tablet processor are getting faster nowadays. To gain interest from OEM or device manufacturers, chipset manufacturers continue to release their latest flagship to win the market share.
Among the latest CPU for mobile devices, there are quad core Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 and Intel Atom Z3580. There is also another CPU manufacturer who prepares the production of their letest thing, Mediatek with their MT6795. This one is Octa core. Which one performs better?
Qualcomm Snapdragon 810
Quad Core 64-bit with 1,56GHz or 1,96GHz
Adreno 430 @650MHz
Dual Channel LPDDR4
Intel Atom Z3580
Quad Core 64-bit with 2,33GHz
PowerVR Rogue G6430 @533MHz
Dual Channel LPDDR3
MediaTek MT6795
Octa Core 64-bit with 2,2GHz
PowerVR G6200 @700MHz
Dual Channel LPDDR3
At some preliminary benchmark that have come up on the world wide web, here is the performance comparison using Geekbench, one of the most popular benchmarking software.
Single-Core Score
Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 1144
Intel Atom Z3580 1019
MediaTek MT6795 886
Multi-Core Score
MediaTek MT6795 4536
Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 4345
Intel Atom Z3580 3349
As we can see, if each of the processor has only one core, MediaTek's processor is quite far behind the other two. But when all the processor are active, MediaTek MT6795 who has eight core, performs faster.
If MediaTek's solution is not too expensive, this will be very interesting. If it is expensive, then I believe that Intel will win the market.
