Invest in CyanogenMod, Microsoft to Prepare New Fight with Google's Android

The rumor said that Microsoft, the US based software giant is going to invest some USD 70 million to CyanogenMod, the most popular Android ROM creator. FYI, CyanogenMod create their OS by taking Android code, modify, and add different features and provide them for different kind of smartphones.

Some users said that CyanogenMod OS is much better and lightweight than plain Android OS from Google. So, medium to low spec smartphone can gain some extra power by using this OS. Currently, some of the emerging smartphone brand such as Oppo and OnePlus have officially used CyanogenMod OS on their Oppo N1 and OnePlus One model.

It's still unclear what Microsoft has in mind by taking this step. But for us end user, the money can be used by CyanogenMod to make the better OS getting better, right?

Me? Root is more than enough. Replacing the OS? No plan for it.
