Previously we have discussed about Mediatek's upcoming 10 core processor, the Helio X20. Now, we have an update. Qualcomm, one of the mobile processor giant, also preparing their 10 cores solution.
The processor will be named as Snapdragon 818. Based on the rumor that has been spread out around the web, it has 3 clusters of processor that manufactured with 20nm technology. They are:
- 4 low power core based on Cortex A53 at 1,2GHz
- 2 mid power core based on Cortex A53 at 1,6GHz
- 4 high power core based on Cortex A72 at 2GHz
They also used the new Adreno 532 to accompany the 10 CPU cores. To make things mor interested, it also supports LPDDR4 RAM, LTE-Advanced Cat 10 for 450Mbps download speed.
It's interesting to see the formation. When the device is not needing for top performance, they will have 4 cores to power. Even it's only at 1,2GHz but 4 cores is more than enough. On top of that, they have 2 mid core to provide additional engine.
The next question is, are the current apps on PlayStore support this? ASAP, hopefully.
