Data statistics from Indonesian Ministry of Industry, in 2014, Indonesia imported 367.251 units of BlackBerry smartphones. Eventhough it's only about 1,81% of total imported goods to the country, the value is around 54,1 million USD or about Rp731 billion.
Unlike other manufacturers, BlackBerry is non cooperative. They don't see the needs to invest to build their smartphone factory or even cooperate with local manufacturing company to produce their smartphones. They just want Indonesian money and don't care about the other stuff.
That's why, the next time they visit Indonesia, Indonesian Ministry of Industry said that he will push them to set up a manufacturing facility in the country.
Nice move Mr. Minister. Let's see if BlackBerry has good intentions or not.
